St Erth & Hayle Cars is one of Hayle’s Longest operating Private Hire Companies with a wealth of experience. We have been operating for over ten years now and have gone from strength to strength over this time and with a vast range of vehicles we are the right company for you to choose.
A BRIEF COMPANY HISTORY
St Erth Cars was born by local businessman called David who used to work for another local company that his sister owned at the time. He was a “one man band” who operated with a single car. In 2005 David changed the company name to St Erth & Hayle and purchased an eight seat minibus – the Ford Transit Minibus we have to this day and rebranded with some new marketing ideas and some new business cards! The Taxi trade is a tough trade to work in let alone trade in and David had many set backs including someone vandalising the minibus by using a gun to smash the back windows in.
David sold the company to local businessman Charlie Mitchell who also used to work as a local taxi driver in the area. This was a start of a new era for St Erth & Hayle Cars and it quickly grew from there.
In 2011 Charlie took over a local Taxi Company called ‘West Country Cars’ with two new telephone numbers (01736 754000 and 07895895895)
In the middle of 2011 we decided to rebrand, and use the two colours Orange & Black in our business stationary and our business cards. In late 2011 we did a door 2 door advertising campaign and posted one business card in letterboxes and covered the majorty of Hayle, St Erth, Connor Downs & Angarrack
2012 – Current
On the 18th of March, 2012 we had a terrible shock, two of our 14 seat mini buses were set alight, one fire crew from Camborne attended the scene to extinguish the fire, we had a lot of support from local businesses and our loyal customers, we were approached by The Cornishman and they sent out a photographer on the 19th. On the 22nd it was announced that Charlie was to offer a £500 reward for information that leads to an arrest. More information can be found here.
We have teamed up with UGOPhones and now manage the Taxi Free Phones in Co-Op and Lidls and work with several local companies and campsites. We have gone under three website re-designs and have a growing fanbase on social networks. We also have moved to a commercial premises situated at BWOC Central Garage which comprises of an office, coffee and tea making facilities and a full working workshop for our in house mechanic to tend to our vehicles.
We have expanded tenfold and now have two cars, four eight seaters and two sixteen seaters minibuses.
